A Memorial

May 25, 2009

Polycarp is one of my hero’s of the faith. The story of his martyrdom is one that always moves me. Today for me is a day to remember those who died in service to our King, protecting Truth in His service.

God bless.

“But when the magistrate pressed him hard and said, ‘Swear the oath, and I will release thee; revile the Christ,’ Polycarp said, ‘Fourscore and six years have I been His servant, and He hath done me no wrong. How then can I blaspheme my King who saved me?'” J.B. Lightfoot. Adapt. and mod. (c) 1990
