How do we develop our children? What are our expectations? Do we spend the majority of time serving our children? How or when do we expect them to move from a frame of you serve me to I serve others?

What plans are in place to make that happen? This Sunday we will be looking at Jesus words to his closest twelve as recorded in Mark 9:33-27.

Two things seem to be evident in the text. One, Jesus says if you want to be the greatest you need to be the least. If you want to be first you must be last, the servant of all. Pretty strong words. You must serve others.

Jesus continues by taking a child and challenging his followers to be open to receiving all. Again, a pretty big challenge.

Challenged to serve others and receive all. When do we start developing that type of heart?

Is service at the heart of what we do? I worry that we spend years telling children that we are here to serve them only to wonder why they never transition to service towards others.

What does your church do to teach service to all?
